combining techniques

One of my favorite things to do is to make a useable or wearable item, combining several different ideas or techniques. Here are some example projects.

Painted warp dress

The warp was painted before weaving, fabric woven in plain weave.

Painted warp overshirt

The warp threads were painted painted before weaving. The fabrics was woven in an advancing block twill.

Horoscope vest and bag

Wool fiber was hand-dyed before spinning, color blended and then handspun. The vest was knitted and bag was woven in tapestry (weft-faced) weave. The handle on bag is card-woven. Narrative of the process for this project.

Blue Bag

Wool yarn was dyed, woven in honeycomb weave. Handle and closure are kumihimo braids.
