Convergence 2000 Horoscope Vest

I obtained several horoscope charts from a site on the internet for different times during Convergence, Cincinnati, OH, June 2000. I wrote a computer utility, based on a modification of the Bonnie Tarses method, to translate from the horoscope data to the .DTX format that my weaving program (Fiberworks PCW) uses, so I could easily view and compare the color stripe sequences resulting from different times. The chart for opening night was chosen for its interesting progression and design.

The formulae for 12 colors were chosen from a wool dye sample set from a workshop by Sara Lamb. The 12 hues represent the three primaries, the three secondaries, and their six intermediares.

The scoured fleece was dyed using the method from Deb Menz's book Color in Spinning. The mixing colors are diluted to a certain concentration in liquid form, which can then be measured more precisely for mixing.

The wool is steamed with the dye mixture.

Citric acid crystals and glauber's salt were weighed...

...and then added to the dye and wool mixture to steam further.

After the steaming, the wool cools in another container while the next color batch is started, until all 12 colors are finished.

Here are all the colors drying in a shady backyard spot. My helper's name is Inspector Cookie.
